Alex Sheen is a four-time TEDx speaker and the Founder of because I said I would, an international social movement and nonprofit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. Sparked by a tragedy in his life, Alex created a concept called the Promise Card and began mailing cards to anyone who requested them at no cost. Since 2012, over 9.81 MILLION Promise Cards have been distributed to over 153 countries. In 2013, Alex left his Corporate Strategy Lead position at a leading software company to dedicate himself entirely to the nonprofit.
Alex has spoken at over 527 events since 2013, across a variety of audiences and industries. Alex is a talented and energetic storyteller, and the true stories he tells have moved thousands to make promises to better themselves, their families, their schools and their communities. His success is in preparation: Alex and his team prepare thoroughly for each event, from booking travel to understanding clients’ event themes and session goals. Alex then delivers an inspiring and ovation-worthy keynote. Afterwards, many audience members might think to themselves “I never heard of Alex Sheen until today. Where has this guy been all my life?” And that kind of audience reaction is what can make your event truly memorable.

because I said I would
We live in a society that often does not respect the importance of a promise. It’s too easy to say “I’ll get to it” or “tomorrow.” In many ways, we have become numb to the disappointment from broken commitments, and this numbness can enter our homes, our workplaces, our schools, our communities… But Alex Sheen believes that every individual has the strength to become a person of their word. Alex will deliver a keynote speech up to 60 minutes long about the importance of honoring your promises. He mixes emotion, humor, and inspiration as he tells deeply moving stories from the because I said I would movement. Alex also shares moments from his personal journey launching and building this viral social movement.
Alex expertly employs video media and visually striking imagery to keep audiences engaged throughout his keynote. His keynote concludes with a strong call to action that connects the Promise Card to the personal lives of each audience member. Every person attending the keynote then receives 10 Promise Cards at no cost.
100% of Alex’s speaking fee goes directly to because I said I would as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. So you can both book a world-class keynote speaker and effectively donate to a high-impact nonprofit!
