Austin Hatch’s path to helping others overcome adversity started with a devastating twist of fate. Austin survived not one but two plane crashes as a child, and tragically those catastrophic events took his precious family from him all too soon. Austin went on to become an all-star high school basketball player and landed a college scholarship to the University of Michigan just 9 days before the second plane accident.
Austin had to go through months and months of rehab to relearn how to walk, talk, eat and live a normal life to make a comeback from a critical condition and a medically-induced coma. The University of Michigan fulfilled their commitment to Austin’s full scholarship to play basketball and it was during this time that Austin took pride in his role on the team and fully realized the positive impact his experiences could have on those around him.
Austin is now married to his college sweetheart Abby, and it was Abby who also encouraged him to try and inspire others. In 2019, after working in the corporate office of Domino’s and speaking to local organizations on the side, Austin left his job to pursue motivational speaking full-time. Today Austin shares his inspiring story across the country inspiring students, teams, and boardrooms with his G.R.I.T. Framework for overcoming adversity.
