Jarrett Payton, son of the late NFL Hall of Famer Walter Payton, is the lead sports anchor for WGN TV, a businessman, a philanthropist, a motivational speaker, a former NFL and CFL running back, and a devoted husband and father.
Payton has been nominated for numerous Emmy awards since joining WGN back in 2015. On the business side, his most passionate project is his partnership in the Flagship on the Fox sports bar and Dukes Northwoods in downtown Saint Charles.
Along with honoring his father’s legacy of making a difference in the community, Payton is now focusing on connecting with children, serving as a role model and stressing the importance of sports, education and character through numerous public speaking events. He and his wife Trisha are the co-founders of The Jarrett Payton Foundation (JPF). Payton also dedicates time to his family’s foundation, The Walter & Connie Payton Foundation.
Payton’s own career in athletics started at an early age. Following a successful run through high school soccer and football in the Chicago area, Payton went on to have an illustrious career at the University of Miami, where he appeared in five major bowl games and was named Most Valuable Player of the 2004 Orange Bowl. After college, Payton went on to play for the Tennessee Titans before making stops in NFL Europe, the Canadian Football League as well as the Indoor Football League.
He currently resides in the western suburbs of Chicago with his wife, son and daughter.
